Cold Case Reboot in the Works at CBS

A Cold Case reboot is reportedly in the works at CBS, with the series looking to bring back the popular police procedural.

According to a report from Deadline, CBS is in negotiations with Warner Bros. TV for the project, and will come from original series creator Meredith Stiehm.

The series will reportedly be set 15 years after the original series’ final episode, and would follow an all new team of tenacious detectives who will go on and investigate cold cases in the Southwest.

It’s currently unclear whether or not anyone involved in the original series will return due to the reboot’s new location. Stiehm will also write the script for the series, and will once again be executive producing the series as she did for the original. Deadline notes that negotiations have been ongoing, but a deal hasn’t been reached just yet.

The original Cold Case was a massive hit

Originally released in 2003, Cold Case followed a special division in the Philadelphi Police Department that specialized in cold case investigations. The series starred Kathryn Morris, Justin Chambers, Thom Barry, John Finn, Jeremy Ratchford, Danny Pino, Sarah Brown, and Tracie Thoms.

The series ran for seven seasons, and aired more than 150 episodes during its time.
