97% Of Nigerian Songs Have No Meaning – OAP, Lolo

Popular comedian, radio personality and star of the popular Jenifa’s diary comedy series, Lolo has made a statement that is likely not to sit well with a lot of Nigerian music lovers. The multi-talented entertainer said that most Nigerian songs have no meaning.



In an interview with HipTV, she said as much as 97% of the songs being circulated in Nigeria are basically for amusement and for fun, with no concrete meaning. Lolo compared the trend in the industry today to what she seems to consider the heydays when the likes of Sunny Ade, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey were making great and meaningful music.




Her statement is likely to cause controversy, as a lot of fans would argue that some artistes still make meaningful music today. What do you think about her statement?
