The SA Hip Hop fratenity has become one of the most influential fratenity’s in the South African Entertainment industry but some players are more influential than others! Check out Stogie T’s top 10 list:



1. Lance Stehr



Lance Sterh was the first to release legitimate hip hop in South Africa, touring groups in Europe. Gave us Amu, POC, Jozi, Morafe, Tuks.

2. Bradley



Bradley Williams ran Le Club with DJ Blaze but went on to formalize relationships with brands and co owns Motif. Riky, Reason, Tumi.

3. Thabiso Kati


Thabiso Hip Hop Scholar used to sell NY mixtapes outside Le Club. Went on to start Cashtime but also worked L Tido, Prokid, and Amu.

4. Sipho Sithole



Sipho Sithole signed Skwatta Kamp to their landmark deal at the time, the first big money major label deal. Gave usZakwe, Zuluboy, prokid

5. Benza


Raphael Benza is a shrewd business man who was helped build the artist that broke the glass ceiling for English speaking rappers in SA.

6. Slikour


Slikour has successfully flipped his dope mc skills into a respected relevant online media platform that helps to develop young talent.

7. Prokid


Prokid changed the country, he was uncompromising and authentic. Made the whole hood fu-Ck with hip hop before him we were amapunka.

8. Dzino


Dzino from Outrageous records was a cultural purveyor and built a formidable empire. Gave us Zubz, H20, Battle Kat, optical illusion

9. Oskido



Oskido is the guy in the shadows who has helped every huge SA hip hop artist without getting his due respect. Trust me they know.

10. Cassper


Nobody can deny that Caspper’s cultural moment has had the biggest impact on SAhiphop. Can argue if that’s good or bad but it’s fact.
