Manchester United Boss Van Gaal Is Worried Angel Di Maria Will Struggle To Cope After Robbery

Louis van Gaal has been forced to reassure Angel di Maria after his Manchester home was robbed...
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that he has concerns over Angel di Maria's mental state after the Argentine's house was robbed.

Di Maria has moved into a hotel with his wife and children, and is now receiving round-the-clock security. Several reports have suggested that he has been left unsettled by the incident, while a swift exit to Paris Saint Germain could be a shock possibility.

Van Gaal, who was quoted by the Telegraph, said: "Yes, you are right," when asked whether he was concerned about the player. "I believe in the 'total human being' principle. His environment is also important and he was worried about his wife and child.

"He wanted to play against Cambridge United and I played him. I decided in the past that I would never play a player in those circumstances because of the 'total human being' principle.

"But with him I had the feeling I had to give him the chance to play and I am happy I let him play because he played very well. Of course, I have to decide on Sunday again, but when I have seen already his performance against Cambridge United, I don't think I have any doubt."

The winger arrived at Old Trafford in the summer transfer window for a club record £59.7m. He has made 18 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring four goals.
