Is Victor AD becoming a one-hit-artiste? After “Wetin We gain” what next?

Sugar Boy, Koker, Mr Real etc had given us one hit singles and then disappeared. One-hit wonders are mostly a result of bad management or lack or presence of inexperienced A&R.

After dropping his hit single “Wetin We Gain”, Victor AD seems to be declining. The SJW Entertainment act became an artiste with one of the hottest jams in 2018 when his single became the national anthem. He was even accused by many for promoting ritualism and crime with the song. This further gave the song the media attention it needed to spread across the nation. It was more like a virus.

A year after, Victor AD premiers his debut project tagged ‘RED EYE EP’ after dropping a single ‘Tire You’ with DMW boss Davido. Despite over 12 million views accrued on his YouTube channel, “Wetin We Gain” still takes over 75% of those numbers with over 9 million views received from the single.

It is great to have a hit single, but definitely not a good one if your old songs are still the only song you’re known for. It could either be that he won your first fans with his hit song but couldn’t retain his fans with his personality. I personally belief the youngster is passing through a challenging period just like Burna Boy did. His craft is great and the uniqueness of his creativity is magnificent.

Few weeks ago, he premiered a new single dubbed “Too Much Money”. The single was well accepted with over a million streams across all streaming platforms. “Too Much Money” could have been his second global hit single. I still vibe to the jam with hope one day others will come to appreciate the message behind it.

Nevertheless, the official video still struggles with less than 500k views on Youtube in One month.
