Prove your worth as African champions, Mutiu Adepoju tells Super Falcons

Charges Falconets to remain focused
Former Super Eagles player, Mutiu Adepoju, has charged the female national team, Super Falcons to ensure they work hard to remain champions of Africa, as the 2016 Women Nations Cup kicks off tomorrow in Cameroun.

Adepoju, who is also a member of the NFF Technical Committee, stated that the defending champions have a lot of challenges to face in the women championship, as other teams would be working hard to beat Nigeria in the tournament.

He tasked the Coach Florence Omagbemi-led team not to underrate any country in the AFCON, saying that there are no more underdogs in female football.


The erstwhile Racing Satander of Spain player, noted that the Falcons need to be given enough support to be at their best in Cameroun.
He also called on the team to demonstrate their dominance in Africa football at the tournament.

On the on-going FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea, Adepoju stated that the victory of the Falconets against Canada in their second group match was a manifestation of the fact that the girls have learnt their lessons from their defeat to Japan.

“The Super Falcons needs to be focused in the Women Nations Cup. The girls should understand that every team would deploy every antics to take them out of the championship early. Falcons should play as a team and avoid mistakes. They should not underestimate any team that comes their way. I also praise the Falconets for their victory against Canada in the U-20 World Cup. They should work hard and beat Spain so as to remain in contention for the trophy,” Adepoju said.
