Mourinho needs time to succeed at United – Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has called on Manchester United fans to give manager Jose Mourinho, the needed support for him to shine at Old Trafford.

He said the former Chelsea boss needs time to succeed.

United are sixth in the Premier League table and are eight points behind leaders Liverpool and will host Arsenal at Old Trafford on Saturday.


The Portuguese manager has been critical of his players and was recently fined £50,000 by the Football Association after criticising referee Anthony Taylor before United’s recent trip to Anfield.

Pochettino said, “It’s clear that when you are with a great club, as I am with Tottenham, the pressure to win is always greater.

“And there are always voices of criticism when the results are not what everyone anticipates.

“Definitely, whenever one starts a new project, it requires time.


“In this case, even though Jose is one of the best coaches in the world, he needs more time to put his ideas in place and so that the team can function as he wants them to.

“It is too early to pass judgment regarding things that are happening with the teams just yet.”
