Open Letter To All Nigerian Youths

Ever since Naira Marley was been arrested, there have been uproars and noise on social media and the internet at large, such that prompted me to conclude that the average Nigerian youth only went to school, we were never educated.

First off EFCC stands for Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , their job is to arrest and charge to court people, persons or organisations suspected to be involved in fraud, mismanagement of funds etc.

Have you been reading the news? Nigeria has lost her respect among the countries of the world, they now believe an average Nigerian is a fraudster, a liar and a scammer, we know our leaders are corrupt (this is peculiar to almost all nations of the world), but an average Nigerian being tagged a fraudster & a scammer is really too bad for our reputation.

Just recent the United States of America stopped non appearance for Visa seekers, meaning they don’t trust Nigerians and want to assess Nigerians physically before granting Visa.

On a weekly basis hardly will you not hear or read about Nigerians involved in crimes abroad ranging from robbery, theft, murder, fraud, drug smuggling, trafficking etc.

The effect of this is that other countries might be forced to stop the non appearance system for visa seekers, meaning that before going to Saudi Arabia or Israel for holy pilgrimage you have to do a face to face interview at the embassy of these countries, imagine the stress, now imagine you have to undergo this long process before getting a visa to South Africa, Ghana or Togo.

I know a lot of you justify internet fraud in a lot of ways, the truth is; what is illegal is illegal, our society is so rotten that we can only fight it from our midst, even though the government isn’t helping.

Left to me I have no problem with you being an internet fraudster as long as you are not defrauding a fellow Nigerian, but Please if anyone is caught by the law enforcement agency don’t cause uproar by agitating for his or her release, before you venture into such business you knew the law is against it, you must have decided you are ready to face the consequences if you get caught.

I know Naira Marley is a great artist [I don’t totally agree – I am not here to talk about his music] but he is suspected of being a fraudster.

Does the average Nigerian youth of today even know how the law works? All we care about is what we think is right. As far as the law is concerned he is still a suspect, it is left to the court of law to pronounce him guilty or innocent

Now Marley has being granted bail and his case adjourned(a lot if people don’t know this), but he is unable to find a level 10 civil servant who will stand as surety for him, are you telling me that none of the people supporting and singing his praise has parent or a family member that is a level 10 civil servant.

I know Marley’s arrest has made him notorious ( I won’t say popular) because most people now believe he is a fraudster (whether he is or he is not it is for the court to decide), this so called popularity is a curse in disguise in the sense that no one (at least for now) is willing to sacrifice or let go off their career as a civil servant for a suspected ‘fraudster’, if the great Nnamdi Kanu of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) could jump Bail, who is Naira Marley not to (am not saying he will… Am just thinking out loud)

Even if he met the bail condition, I don’t trust EFCC to let him go just like that, the same EFCC that refuse to unfreeze the account of Ayodele Fayose while he was still governor even though the court ordered them to unfreeze it?

Instead of this social media rant and ineffective agitation, why don’t you take your protest to the EFCC head office or the court of law (which I will not advise you to do). We have seen what politicians do when charged to court, they storm the court with lot of lawyers.

Instead of burning your data my making and sharing *useless* videos on instagram and other social platforms why can’t you just gather money and hire lawyers for Naira Marley.

In Nigeria of today, social media don’t work for moving grievances or motion, ask Sowore, he had a lot of supporters on the social media, but when it came to the physical aspect (I think you know what happened).

It easy to shout and rant on social media, just call a peaceful protest against the arrest of Marley people won’t turn up even if they turn up it will have no effect even worker’s strikes have no effect.

BOTTOM LINE
I Am not against you being a yahoo boy just don’t plus it even if you plus it or not you know the law is against it, whether you like it or not you are indulging in a crime which makes you a C*****l (I no go talk that one)

Stop the #free_marley, #marlins, #free_marley_is_agoal and all other *useless* hash tags, if you truly want to free Marley:
Get a bunch of damn good lawyers. His next court case hearing is coming up in September so guys, you all should get a good lawyer for him if you trully want him freed!
