The two US swimmers pulled off their flight bound home on Wednesday will not be allowed to leave Brazil until they testify over the claim of being robbed in Rio de Janeiro, say Brazilian authorities.
The two swimmers, Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz, were teammates of gold medalist Ryan Lochte, who claimed he and three teammates were robbed at gunpoint by men who identified themselves as police officers on Sunday. After hearing the US athletes’ testimony, questions start to emerge over whether they have lied about the episode.
Lochte has returned to the US before the Brazilian officers could seize his passport, while his other teammate, James Feigen, is believed to be still in Brazil.
