Nigeria-dominated England U-20 team beat Golden Eaglets 8-1 in Suwon tourney

England Under-20 team,The Young Lions, having about eight players of Nigerian parents, on Wednesday beat Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets 8-1 in the Suwon tourney opener.

Anglo-Nigerian, Dominic Solanke was on the scoresheet as England U20 spanked Nigeria U17 team 8-1 in the Suwon Continental Cup.

Manu Garba tutored side was broken in the 19th minute when Young Lions’ captain Taylor Moore opened the floodgate.


Barely a minute later Barnsley striker Adam Armstrong netted the second before Chelsea forward Solanke scored to make it 3-0.

Armstrong scored his second goal capping off the first half, and completed a hat-trick just at the beginning of the second period.

Patrick Roberts recorded a brace and Callum Connolly struck one to take the tally to 8-0.

Golden Eaglets, played against six Nigerians in the England squad. They are Fikayo Tomori, Liverpool’s Ovie Ejaria, Josh Onomah of Tottenham; Ademola Lookman and Chelsea’s Solanke.


The Manu Garba lads managed to get a solitary goal.

The Golden Eaglets will face Iran on Thursday and look to improve in their second match of the four-team invitational tourney, before facing South Korea to cap off the event.
