The Gunners see the 27-year-old as a stand-in for the injured Per Mertesacker in defence, though he is likely to cost the north London outfit around £10 million
Arsenal are targeting Swansea’s talented Argentinian centre-half Federico Fernandez, according toThe Sun on Sunday.
A long-term injury to Per Mertesacker has left the Gunners short of defensive options and Wenger is now eyeing Fernandez as a replacement.
The Argentine signed for Swansea in an £8 million deal in 2014, having spent the previous three years with Napoli, and would want at least £10m if they were to sell this summer.
The Swans have signed a central defender this summer, with Mike van der Hoorn having arrived from Ajax, but they have let Kyle Bartley join Leeds on a season-long loan.
