Stanley Eguma expects tough game from Wikki Tourists

The Port Harcourt based club are the currently sitting atop of the NPFL log and the coach wants to consolidate the position with an away win in Bauchi

Rivers United coach, Stanley Eguma has admitted that facing Wikki Tourists in the Nigeria Professional Football League match day 36 will be tough, but insists nothing will stop them from getting all three points away from home.

The Port Harcourt based side took advantage of Enugu Rangers 2-1 defeat in Ibadan on match day 35 to rise to the summit of the log, and he’s hoping they can consolidate their position on the table with an away win.

The former Dolphins FC coach also said that the team has had enough time to rest and prepare for this crunch encounter, adding that the outcome of the game will determine how they end the season.

“I cannot predict the outcome of matches before they are played. I rather work towards (getting a positive result from) the game,” Eguma told Rivers United media
“I recall that when we got our first away win of the season (against Warri Wolves in Warri on May 8), no one expected it.

“I can’t predict what will happen in Bauchi.

“I agree that Wikki Tourists is a good side but it is possible that they can fall in Bauchi and that is what we are plotting for.

“We have had a week to prepare for the game and we will go to Bauchi to give a good account of ourselves because we know the importance of that game.

“We know what that game will do for our title ambitions so we are not going there for (tourism).

“The fans should know that Rivers United will be giving her best in that game and who knows, we may be coming back with a win.”

Rivers United is currently in first place on the NPFL standings with 56 points from 33 matches and they will face Wikki, Abia Warriors and Akwa United to wrap up the 2015/16 league season.
